Abstract

The skin is an extremely complex organ consisting of multiple types of cells, each of which can give rise to a particular neoplasm.


In this review, tumors deriving from keratinocytes, melanocytes and Merkel cells, which are mainly caused by prolonged and / or acute and intermittent photoexposure, will be considered.


Furthermore, the concept of photocarcinogenesis and the modalities that can allow an adequate primary and secondary prevention of these neoplasms will be exposed.
