The new hepatitis C therapies
Main Article Content
Abstract
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection is one of the main causes of chronic liver disease worldwide, with an estimated prevalence of 1% of the world population, corresponding to about 71.1 million people.
In the West, HCV infection is the main cause of end-stage liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and deaths from liver disease.
HCV infection in Italy still has a prevalence of about 1.1% and remains the main cause of chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver, HCC and liver transplantation in our country.
