Abstract
Over the past forty years, Italy has witnessed significant social, political, legislative, and institutional transformations that have shaped an increasingly widespread and integrated welfare system. A pivotal milestone in this evolution was the establishment of the National Health Service in 1978. This paper aims to provide reflections and assessments on past developments, offering insights that may guide present and future actions. Without claiming to be exhaustive, the intent is to move beyond mere remembrance, embracing a perspective that fosters constructive dialogue and progress.
