The MOOC and training in the medical-health area
Main Article Content
Abstract
MOOCs are courses freely available online, to which a large number of users can register. Mostly offered by prestigious international universities such as Stanford and Harvard, today over 12,000 MOOCs are available online produced by over 900 educational institutions. A significant percentage of these courses deals with issues related to medicine and health.
The paper describes how MOOCs could be an important tool for improving pre and post-graduate education and continuing professional development.
The rapid spread of MOOCs induces substantial reflections on the future roles of educational institutions. It is therefore necessary to encourage universities and health organizations to undertake these new training opportunities.
