How to prevent bio-insecurity scenarios on a global scale

Abstract

The recent COVID-19 pandemic has sounded like an alarm bell, reawakening atavistic fears and bringing to the fore vulnerabilities that many thought lost in the fog of history.
In reality, we have seen first-hand the extent of the upheavals, especially socio-economic, that can be triggered by a pandemic in an interconnected world like ours.
The containment of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has in fact required the adoption of draconian public health measures, first in China itself and then, with the progressive spread of the infection, in other countries, including Italy.
