Knowing to decide… with a little A.I.

Abstract

This article examines some considerations on the meaning of uncertainty as a critical element of medical action (and not only).
However, this meaning is inserted in a broader context, which we could summarily define as the "culture of uncertainty".
Some points of the text may seem not perfectly connected, but the aim of the text is essentially to raise doubts and possibly activate a debate. As a human species we live in daily uncertainty and as doctors uncertainty is frequently, if not always, present in the
decision-making process of our profession.
The progress of homo sapiens sapiens is known, but perhaps we are at a limit point involving not only the quality of life but its "evolution" over time.
